Launching the New Mentoring Guidelines for Clubs
I’m thrilled to announce the launch of the New Mentoring Guidelines for Clubs. This resource is all about helping our new Rotarians find their feet and thrive within Rotary. To celebrate, we’re hosting a New Members Networking Event on 23 February. It’s going to be a fantastic opportunity to connect, share experiences, and set the stage for success. Let’s show our newest members what makes Rotary so special.

Introducing the "Re-imagine Belonging" Podcast
We’re also excited to launch the new podcast "Re-imagine Belonging," hosted by our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Chair, Rana Ebrahimi. In the inaugural episode, I had the honor of being the first guest, sharing insights on fostering a sense of belonging within Rotary and exploring how our clubs can continue to grow as inclusive and welcoming spaces.
The podcast is a fantastic resource to spark conversations and inspire change. You can access it via the Story on our Rotary webpage or through our People Of Action Facebook page. Make sure to tune in, share it widely, and join the movement to reimagine what belonging means in Rotary.
Rotary’s Disaster Response: A Global Effort
This past month, our District has rallied to respond to disasters both near and far. From supporting communities impacted by the earthquake in Vanuatu to the fires in the Grampians and California, Rotarians have been there to lend a hand. District Governor Elect, Peter Shepheard, has been coordinating our efforts and serving as the point of contact, ensuring we maximize our impact. These efforts remind us of the power of our network and the difference we can make when we come together.
Youth Exchange: Building Bridges Across Cultures
One of my favorite moments this month was welcoming home our Youth Exchange students and sending off the next group to embark on their adventures. Their stories of resilience, growth, and cultural connection are a testament to the life-changing power of this program.
Looking ahead, we’ll be seeking host clubs to support our incoming students later this year. Hosting a Youth Exchange student is an incredible opportunity to bring the world into your home and foster lifelong connections. I encourage all clubs to consider hosting and experience the joy and enrichment it brings.
Honoring Service and Legacy
This month, we celebrated the remarkable life of Past International President Bill Boyd, whose legacy continues to inspire us. On Australia Day, we also acknowledged Rotarians recognized in the Honours List for their extraordinary contributions. These moments remind us why we do what we do—to serve, to lead, and to leave a legacy of impact.
Rotary SAFE Families: A Community Priority
During the Mega Rotary online meeting, I had the chance to spotlight Rotary SAFE Families. It’s an initiative close to my heart and essential to fostering safer, stronger communities. Thank you to everyone who is championing this vital cause.
Supporting Our District’s Insurance Needs
After many years of dedicated service, our District Insurance Officer, Mark Perree, has stepped down from the role. Mark’s work has been instrumental in ensuring our clubs and projects are well-supported, and we thank him wholeheartedly for his contributions.
Moving forward, we’re in discussions with District 9705 to explore how we can pool our resources and leverage their expertise in this area. More information will be shared in the coming days. In the meantime, please direct any insurance matters to our District Governance Director, Geoff McCormick, who will be handling these inquiries on an interim basis.
Club Visits and Strengthening Partnerships
Every club visit I’ve made this month has been a reminder of the diversity, creativity, and passion within our District. It’s inspiring to see how each club brings its unique flavor to Rotary. I’m also excited about our growing partnership with District 9705 on insurance matters, which will enhance how we support our members and projects.
Looking Ahead
As we look to the months ahead, I encourage each of you to lean into the opportunities Rotary offers—whether it’s mentoring a new member, showcasing your project at the Impact Summit, or simply sharing the magic of Rotary with someone new. Together, we’re unstoppable.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s make 2025 a year to remember—filled with impact, connection, and a whole lot of magic!
