Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network (RIMERN) Inc.

Like WERN in the western suburbs and EERN in the east of Melbourne, RIMERN is a multi-Club Community Service project that supports people in need with donated furniture, appliances and homewares as they are assisted into secure homes following crises and periods of housing insecurity.

RIMERN was initiated by Rotary Prahran but now counts 15 Melbourne Rotary Clubs across 2 Districts (9800 & 9790) as members, with all Clubs supporting the project with funds & volunteers, but also reaping the benefits in so many ways.

Collecting, cleaning testing & rehoming donated goods is a valuable environmental project, keeping tons of usable goods out of landfill.

Working with non-Rotarian volunteers, collecting from community donors and sharing our heart-warming stories of happy clients setting up their secure homes after experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, release from jail or other hardship is a powerful PR project that benefits Rotary in general and our member Clubs in particular.

Partnering with Melbourne’s leading welfare agencies like Launch Housing, Melbourne City Mission, Wombat Housing Support, VACCA, Anglicare, Jesuit Social Services and others is a high profile Community Service project that enables RIMERN to support bona fide clients in need and further build Rotary’s reputation in the community.

Importantly, volunteering days at RIMERN are great team builders for member Clubs and membership is growing at several member Clubs thanks to non-Rotarian volunteers learning more about Rotary from the Rotarians pitching in alongside them, our famous “People of Action”!

More Melbourne Clubs are invited to join RIMERN, check our website for more information. www.rimern.org.auor our facebook page for daily updates https://www.facebook.com/groups/495145215239091
