District 9800 is proud to launch an exciting new initiative aimed at fostering peace, strengthening relationships with schools and councils, and increasing Rotary’s visibility in our communities. This initiative will support clubs in installing Peace Poles in prominent community locations such as schools, parks, and council spaces—helping to spread the message of peace and build meaningful partnerships.
What is a Peace Pole?
A Peace Pole is an internationally recognized symbol of peace, inscribed with the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in multiple languages. Found in more than 200,000 locations worldwide, Peace Poles serve as a daily reminder of our commitment to creating a more harmonious world.
Why Install a Peace Pole?
By participating in this initiative, clubs can:
✅ Strengthen relationships with local schools and councils.
✅ Promote peace education and awareness.
✅ Increase Rotary’s public presence through a visible, lasting installation.
✅ Engage the community and inspire collaboration between organizations.

District Support & How to Apply
- District 9800 will subsidize up to 50% of the cost of a Peace Pole (up to $250 each).
- Support is available for up to the first 20 clubs that apply before 30 June 2025.
- Clubs are encouraged to partner with schools, councils, or community groups to co-fund the remaining cost.
Application Process
- Identify a Location & Partner – Work with a local school, council, or organization to determine an installation site.
- Apply for the District Subsidy – Submit an application through the District 9800 ONLINE FORM, detailing the location and funding request.
- Order & Install the Peace Pole – Once approved, clubs can order their Peace Pole and coordinate installation. To order a Peace Pole or obtain more information, contact Michael Rabey, of the Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin, ACT, on 0411 367 700 or via admin@canberrapeacebell.org
- Submit for Reimbursement – After installation, clubs must send an invoice to the District for 50% of the cost (up to $250 per pole), including a copy of the receipt
- Celebrate & Share! – Organize an event, invite media, and showcase your club’s impact.
