Creating a sense of belonging from the moment a prospective member expresses interest in joining a Club is key to helping them become a long-term member.
This requires intentional effort and consistent involvement from current members to ensure newcomers feel welcomed, respected, and appreciated for their unique contributions. One way to support this is by appointing a Club mentor to help guide new members as they learn how to engage with and participate in Club activities and programs from the start. Studies show that this approach also improves member retention.

To help Clubs implement a new members mentoring program, Rotary Melbourne, in partnership with D9800, has updated and revised the existing Rotary Melbourne Mentoring Program Guidelines making them available to all Clubs across the District. On behalf of Rotary Melbourne Governor Michael and President Catherine (RC Melbourne) hope these guidelines will be valuable in helping you and your Club launch a New Members Mentoring Program.
