For over 37 years Rotary has been a significant cause for good in Flemington and Kensington. In recent years, members have operated the Op Shop, providing a focus on recycling and repurposing and providing goods at a low cost to the community. Additionally, funds raised have supported Mental Health First Aid training programs, youth driver safety education, the L2P project with MVCC and research into mental health for children.
Members assist at council and community events with BBQs and provide financial and personal assistance to local schools, students and community groups.

At this year’s Spirit of Moonee Valley awards announced on Sunday 23 March, the Rotary Club of Flemington Kensington was recognised for its contribution to the residents of Moonee Valley with a Spirit of Moonee Valley Award.

As acknowledged at the presentation, the Rotary Club of Flemington Kensington is: A cornerstone of Moonee Valley for over 37 years, this group has provided our community with financial support totalling more than $1 million! That money has made possible everything from student scholarships to community programs and assistance for disadvantaged individuals. Their active involvement in community events like Carols in the Park and the Moonee Valley Festival, along with their ongoing support of local schools, community centres and sports clubs, demonstrates the Club’s deep commitment to enhancing the lives of Moonee Valley residents.

President Lesley McCarthy accepted the award from Cr Phil Burns and further recognition of the work conducted by the Club in the local community was seen on the Instagram page of local councillor, Samantha Byrne.
