As April draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on a month filled with inspiration, new beginnings, and the unmistakable energy of Rotarians in action. From leadership development to international connections, April reminded me just how vibrant and magical our Rotary family truly is.

Presidents Elect Learning Seminar

April opened with a wonderful opportunity to witness the next wave of Rotary leadership in action. I dropped in to see District Governor-Elect Peter guiding our incoming Presidents at the Presidents Elect Learning Seminar (PELS) in Bendigo. As always, District Secretary Marjorie and Learning Facilitator Kerrie Hicks delivered a memorable and enriching experience for all who attended. It’s inspiring to see our future leaders being nurtured with such care, wisdom, and purpose.

Multi District Impact Summit

Now onto something big—the Multi-District Impact Summit (MDIS) is almost ready to take off! I had the privilege of getting a sneak preview, and it’s shaping up to be a dynamic event full of inspiration, collaboration, and innovation. If you haven’t already registered, now is the time—final registrations close 5 May.

We also received a phenomenal response to the Rotary Young Leaders sponsorship program. Congratulations to:

  • Sam (RC Chadstone East Malvern)

  • Olivia (RC Eynesbury)
They’ll be attending the MDIS with support from our district.

  • And special kudos to Berat (RC Melbourne), who will represent us at the Rotary International Convention in Calgary

These young leaders are vibrant examples of the future of Rotary—and what a future that will be.

Peace Poles Subsidy

It’s also been fantastic to see the enthusiasm for our Peace Pole subsidy initiative. With numerous applications coming in, I can already imagine the many Peace Poles soon to be standing proudly across our district, quietly reminding us of Rotary’s commitment to peace and community unity.

New Clubs

Creativity met service with the recent charter of the Rotaract Club of Music Makers. This talented group of young musicians is already planning to share their artistry at Rotary events—from changeovers to fundraisers—bringing joy, heart, and harmony to our gatherings. Their Charter event is coming soon, and it promises to be a night to remember.

We’re also on the verge of welcoming a new Rotary eClub. The paperwork is in with RISPPO, and once approved, we’ll celebrate another exciting chapter in our District’s evolution—offering new ways for members to engage with Rotary in a flexible, digital format.

On a personal note, I recently had the joy of exploring China during the Easter/school holidays, performing in some of the most stunning concert halls in Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu, and Chongqing. Even better, I had the company of Past President Robert Fisher from RC Melbourne. It was a reminder of how music and Rotary both connect people across borders and cultures in powerful, magical ways.

Whether you’ve been busy learning, leading, planting Peace Poles, or simply soaking in the beauty of Rotary fellowship, I hope you’ve felt the spark of the Magic of Rotary this April.
