As we draw closer to the end of the year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past month and all that we've achieved together through the Magic of Rotary. December has been a whirlwind of activity, celebration, and collaboration—a fitting conclusion to an incredible year.

A Month of Connection and Celebration

This month, I had the privilege of continuing my club visits, meeting with Rotarians from across our district, and witnessing firsthand the passion and dedication that make our community so special. Highlights included:

  • Attending the Youth Exchange Blazer presentation for outbound students. I was inspired by the leadership and energy each student brings, embodying the promise of a brighter future.
  • Celebrating the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) and being amazed at the enthusiasm and capabilities of our young leaders. Their commitment to making a difference is truly remarkable.
  • Joining a Christmas celebration with the Council of Governors, spending time with our past District leaders and reflecting on the legacy of their service.
  • Visiting Rotary Rochester to celebrate their 60th anniversary, a milestone that speaks volumes about their enduring impact and dedication to their community.
  • Meeting with the National Youth Science Forum candidates as they prepared to embark on their science camp in Canberra and Brisbane. Their curiosity and ambition are a testament to the power of nurturing young minds.

A Season for Giving and Gratitude

December has also been a time to honor the spirit of giving that defines Rotary. Our District has shown its commitment to helping others by utilizing our Disaster Response Funds to support those impacted by the recent earthquake in Vanuatu. This vital assistance is a powerful reminder of the collective strength and compassion of Rotary.

I’ve been inspired by the incredible work being done across our district—from environmental projects to youth programs—all fueled by the passion and generosity of Rotarians like you.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As we prepare to welcome the new year, I’m excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. In 2025, we will focus on catching up with all the new members who have recently become Rotarians, exploring opportunities to grow our youth engagement, and supporting District Governor Elect Peter as he prepares to lead our District. We’ll also be gearing up for our Multi District Impact Summit (District Conference) on 16-18 May. Have you registered yet?

2025 holds great promise, and I’m excited to see how we can build on this year’s momentum to achieve even greater things.

Wishing You a Restful Festive Season

Finally, as the festive season approaches, my family—Nina, Alex, Mikey, Brianna—and I want to extend our warmest wishes to you and your families. May this be a time of rest, joy, and connection with loved ones. Your dedication and contributions have been invaluable, and we hope you take this opportunity to recharge and celebrate the magic of the season.

Thank you for making this year truly remarkable. Here’s to a bright and inspiring 2025 ahead!

Warm regards,

Michael
