Rotary Caulfield joins the Community for Australia Day Celebrations
The club purchased caps and T-shirts and produced two banners reflecting the Australia Day theme – Reflect, Respect and Celebrate Australia and all Australians.
Welcome to Country and a Smoking Ceremony were led by Willie Pepper, a Bunnerong member. Rotarian Merv Ritter, MC, shared with us his story about his travels to the North of Australia and how he feels he now has a spiritual relationship to the land. The Ceremonies were held behind the shops in Murrumbeena.
Vouchers were handed out for a drink and light meal which could be had from either Daniel Son Café or from Café Omnia. There were also gifts for any children who attended. There was a Rotary table outside each of the cafés.
This gave us a chance to speak to local people while they were waiting for their food.

We were very lucky to have had two volunteers from Rotary Port Philip: Pam Dittmer and Wendy Stirling, and two friends of Rotary helping us - Shirley Laretive and Mary Lewin.
Whilst it was a beautiful day, the heat added to a lot of people not venturing out due to COVID 19. Those who did come enjoyed themselves.
