Introduction

Each year Rotary District 9800 takes the opportunity to recognise and thank Members and Clubs for their hard work and dedication to a wide variety of projects, both locally and internationally, that are changing lives for the better and to congratulate Clubs on their commitment to serving others.

Purpose

The purpose of District Recognitions is to acknowledge and encourage “excellence” in a variety of key areas. They are designed to give Clubs and their Members pride in their achievements and to set the benchmark in what Clubs can do to make a difference within our community.
 

Categories of Awards

There are seven categories, which align with the Avenues of Service and reflect the District 9800 Strategic Goals and Objectives:
1.Community
2.International
3.Vocational
4.Youth
5.Environmental Sustainability
6.Membership
7.Public Image
 
  • Please complete the District Recognition Awards 2024 Nomination Form
  • A maximum of two projects will be selected in each category resulting in 14 awards.
  • A project/event can only be nominated in one category (to avoid duplicate awards).
  • Clubs self-nominate with the endorsement from their Assistant Governor, Avenue of Service Chair, or District Leadership Team Member, to ensure the project/event fits the criteria outlined.
  • Applications will be accepted for activities that were commenced and completed in the two years prior to 31 May 2024.
  • Projects/Events can only be nominated in one category.
  • Projects/Events can only be submitted if they have not previously received a District Recognition.

Presentation Date

The awards will be presented at the District Changeover on Sunday 30 June 2024.
 

Deadline

Nominations need to be submitted by 11:59pm on Friday 31 May 2024.
 
  • Certificates with the District Recognition Logo will be presented.
  • An electronic District 9800 Recognition Logo will be made available to Clubs to use on their club letterhead, emails, websites, brochures, and bulletins.

Recognition of Excellence Categories

  1. Community Service                                                                                  Chair: Casey Tan
Recognition of an outstanding Community Service Project or Program which addresses and meets a significant problem of identified need within the local community. The project should include extensive involvement by Club Members and possibly involve the use of a District Foundation Grant.
 
  1. International Service                                                                                Chair: Stuart McIntyre
Recognition of an outstanding & comprehensive International Service Project or Program through involvement in a District or Club humanitarian initiative. A program or project that provides benefits to as wide a spectrum of the community as possible and ideally involves the use of a District Foundation Grant.
 
  1. Vocational Service                                                                                    Chair: Warwick Cavell
Recognition of an outstanding Club Vocational Service Project or Program that has impacts and outcomes enhanced by the use of individual or group vocational skills and ethical business practices.
 
  1. Youth Service                                                                                           Chair: Josephine Falzarano
Recognition of an outstanding and comprehensive Youth Service (Under18 years) Project or Program initiative, instigated at the Club, Cluster, or District Level.
 
  1. Environmental Sustainability                                                                  Chair: John McCaskill
Recognition of an outstanding Environmental Sustainability Project or Program which addresses and meets a significant problem identified within the community. The project should include extensive involvement by ClubMembers
 
  1. Membership Service                                                                                Chair: Loryn Clark
Recognition of innovation and excellence in the retention and recruitment of members, including the promotion of diversity, unique fellowship opportunities, new Clubs Chartered, and establishment of Satellite or Rotaract Clubs.
 
  1. Public Image                                                                                             Chair: Sandi Fulcher
Recognition of an innovative and consistent level of excellence in the presentation of internal and external Club communications, adhering to the Rotary Branding Guidelines, across the Club Website, Newsletter, and Social Media.
 

Strategic Values Guidelines:

In each of these categories, applications should demonstrate their alignment to the District 9800 Strategic Plan 2023-24 and in the following ways:

REMINDER:

The deadline for the awards submissions is Saturday 18 May 2024 so that the awards can be presented at the 2024 District Changeover. Your completed District Recognition Awards 2024 Nomination Form is to be sent to Graeme Hope, Club Service Director, graemehope@bigpond.com
