Concert for Ukraine raises $29,000
Rotary District 9800 Conference, Concerts and Community Events
The past few weeks I have had the privilege of attending some outstanding events which have demonstrated how resilient Rotarians are.
The first was our District Conference in Albury which saw over 350 people gather to celebrate and “Get Together in Albury”.
Secondly, Rotary North Melbourne hosted a Ukraine Appeal Concert at the Melbourne Townhall supported by 700 attendees.
Finally, Rotary Central Melbourne and District 9800 in partnership with Mentor Match supported by the Victorian Government are launching the Victoria-wide initiative on Thursday 26th May with the grandson of Nelson Mandela as guest speaker.

Invitation: An evening with Zondwa Mandela - not to be missed
You are invited to a special event with keynote speaker Zondwa Mandela - grandson of Nelson and Winnie Mandela, to celebrate the launch of the Rotary mentoring initiative partnering with MENTOR MATCH supported by the Victorian Government.
A Concert to Remember! $29,000 raised for Ukraine
How did the seed of an idea to run a small local concert in North Melbourne to raise funds for the Ukraine crisis, grow into a concert in the Melbourne Town Hall, with over 700 people attending and raising so far $29,000?
As I (Ted) was singing with the Homebrew Verandah singers, this idea took hold that I could help my Ukraine family along with my cousins both in Poland and Ukraine. My Rotary Club loved the idea so I approached the Ukraine community, to invite their amazing choir and dance group Lehanda who also brought in the Association of Australian Ukraine in Victoria (AUV).
District 9800 Recognitions 2022
Applications for the District 9800 Recognitions 2022 are now open.

We look forward to receiving nominations so that we can acknowledge and celebrate the great volunteering successes within the District 9800 Clubs
Rochester Port & Pie Night
Rotarians and friends were excited to be together face-to-face enjoying Pies and Port at Rochester on Saturday 7th May. The consistent sound of chatter and laughter was a sign of freedom from the past two years of lockdown and wariness of being in crowded spaces. Rotary Rochester welcomed District Governor Dale Hoy and Maureen, representatives of 12 Rotary Clubs and Community members to their Pie and Port and Changeover evening.
The Pie and Port night commenced in the early 1980s as a social night for members only and has developed into an occasion known throughout Rotary District 9800.
District Changeover - Saturday 25th June

District Governor Dale Hoy and District Governor-elect Amanda Wendt invite you to join friends and leaders from across the District as we celebrate the service and accomplishments of Rotarians over the past year, and begin to grow.

Rotary together in 2022-2023 and prepare to welcome 25,000 Rotarians from across the world to Melbourne for the Rotary International Convention.
