Welcome to 2024. Hopefully everyone in our D9800 Rotary family has enjoyed a pleasant time over the festive break and especially made time to connect with family near and far. The opportunity to recharge the batteries has been appreciated by Deb and me and we are now looking forward in reconnecting with you for the next part of our endeavours to make a difference. So, what’s ahead?
Friday 23rd February - Listen in to Radio 94.1FM to hear Ian Salek from our 'Rotary and Community Service Show' interviewing DG Ron about our pending Conference being held in Bendigo.
Rotary Hoppers Crossing recently completed an exciting project that will help provide a better standard of health care for hospitalized patients in three African countries – Ghana, Uganda, and Nigeria. The project involved sending high-quality surgical instruments to health clinics and hospitals in the three countries.

Through a Centennial Grant from Rotary Balwyn, and with the assistance of Rotary Essendon and Rotary Leeton Central, a haven for child survivors of abuse and violence has been created in the Philippines. The Tala Camp and Eco-Retreat is expected to benefit at least 500 children every year and will provide a safe place for children and young people to heal, recover, and learn to dream again. Tala means star in the local language.
The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is our lifeline for much of the wonderful work we do as Rotarians, individually and collectively. Unfortunately, it is often not understood by many, especially how easy it is to donate and how to use the power of its resources.
Please read on to learn more about how much simpler donating to The Rotary Foundation has been made for all of us.
We are now beginning to move into the ‘Change’ stages of the Regionalisation Pilot that will see us ready for a revised approach to be implemented from 1 July.
Our Governor team is working with the Steering Group to ensure a smooth transition for all clubs and to assist everyone in understanding what this change will mean.
As we enter a new calendar year, hopefully having had a restful break from all of the wonderful work we do in the service of the peoples of the world, I feel it is important to bring our focus back onto our No. 1 priority as we prepare to undertake yet another period of ‘Doing Good in the World.’
The Polio challenge remains and, while that elusive finish line continues to tease us, we know we must not relent and I encourage you to continue your individual and club endeavours to support our Foundation in working towards eradication.
