Great to see so many Rotarians out in force for National Tree-planting Day on Sunday 31 July, the first volunteer with the DG event. Tree-planting is a perfect example of a meaningful, hands-on and convenient volunteering project that everyone can get involved in.
Over 11 000 trees were planted by volunteers.
Rotarians were volunteering at several sites across Victoria. The Rotary Clubs of Flemington-Kensington and Carlton helped to plant 3000 trees with hundreds of locals at Avondale Heights, Chadstone East Malvern and Camberwell were part of a team that powered through 8000 trees in less than 2 hours, and Rotary Melbourne also planted 3000 trees in Wantirna South.
Shout-out to Peter Berg, Rotary Melbourne and Lesley McCarthy, Rotary Club of Flemington-Kensington for co-ordinating their respective sites and inspiring the troops! Congrats to all clubs and individuals that took part in their local community - collectively we made a terrific impact!
