On Wednesday, 28 October, 2015, Yarra Bend Rotary held the second annual Boroondara Emergency Services Awards with an audience of almost 80 people. The evening, held at the Hawthorn Arts Centre, was very successful and presented a very positive image of Rotary and Yarra Bend in particular.

"The United Nations estimates that 385,000 women die annually in childbirth, with developing countries accounting for 99% of these deaths. For every woman who dies in childbirth another 30 women will incur injuries and infections. Many of these deaths, injuries and infections are preventable.
Call for Nominations
Each year the Health and Ageing Committee presents the Seniors award which was created to recognize the contribution of a man or women, 60 years and over who has given outstanding service in a voluntary capacity to older people.
These awards are presented to 3 to 4 people who have contributed their time and expertise over the year in order to make a difference to those less fortunate.
The awards are sponsored by Tobin Brothers and are named after Alphonse Tobin, a past member of the club.
